Metrics should only be used to measure progress until a specific goal is reached, after which we no longer track it. Instead, we learn to focus on more holistic goals and intangible indicators that keep a team humming along smoothly. Team energy, communication patterns, slack and reflection are much more important to increasing productivity than any myopic set of metrics.
